Victoria Court, Horsham

Project Details

This project involved providing tied independent scaffolding across all elevations of Victoria Court in Horsham. The scaffold was installed to facilitate a series of roofing and exterior works, including changes to lead flashings, replacement of UPVC covers, and access to downpipes. CNM Scaffolding supplied and erected a fully boarded scaffold setup. Every elevation of the property was fitted with tied independent scaffolding, designed to provide stability and access while maintaining safety standards. A critical safety feature of this installation was the base lift: it was double boarded with polythene sheeting sandwiched between the boards to effectively protect public safety from debris and falling materials. Ladder access was provided throughout the site, and access gates were installed where necessary to control entry and exit. Protection foam was applied to all scaffold standards.

Project Challenges

One of the key challenges on this site was accommodating the busy urban location of Victoria Street. Given the high pedestrian footfall and ongoing vehicle access, it was crucial to install scaffolding that not only offered full coverage for the building works but also maintained public access and safety throughout the project. Another challenge involved aligning all installations with PH Beck Ltd's strict health and safety procedures. CNM's team worked closely with the client's safety representative to ensure all systems met expectations.

Throughout the duration of the project, health and safety remained a core focus. The scaffold system was regularly inspected, with emphasis on the correct use of double boarding and protective sheeting to minimise risks to both the public and the construction team. Foam-wrapped standards, ladder-only access, and the use of gates added extra layers of safety.
