The Warblington School project was a commercial scaffolding initiative conducted for Beard Construction. The primary objective was to provide safe and secure scaffolding access to the school's roof and interior, enabling essential maintenance and decorating work. Situated at Warblington School in Havant, Hampshire, this eight-week project required a variety of scaffolding solutions, tailored to meet the school's unique safety and accessibility requirements. Beard Construction, the client for this project, needed scaffolding support at Warblington School to enable access for their contractors. The project's unique setting within an operational school required careful planning to avoid disrupting the educational environment. A primary objective was to ensure the contractors had the necessary scaffolding for safe roof access, while simultaneously allowing for internal decoration on weekends, thereby minimising interference with the school's day-to-day activities. The project involved the installation of a variety of scaffolding systems tailored to the school's needs. This included perimeter handrails to secure the roof area for safe contractor access, as well as internal towers to facilitate access for indoor decorating. Internal work was scheduled specifically for weekends, which allowed school functions to continue uninterrupted. This approach balanced efficient project execution with respect for the school's schedule and environment.
This project utilised our edge protection & handrails and safe access scaffolding services, delivered to our full range of industry accreditations and safety standards. The project was located in Havant, one of our key service areas across the south coast.
Working in an active school setting introduced unique logistical and safety challenges. A significant challenge was coordinating work schedules to prevent disruption to the school's operations. To address this, all internal access work was conducted during weekends. In addition, maintaining safety protocols in an environment with students and staff was a priority. All personnel on this project were either Enhanced or Standard DBS certified, providing an additional layer of security and reassurance to the school. This compliance with school safety requirements allowed our team to work independently within the premises without constant oversight, instilling confidence in Beard Construction and the school administration alike. The project demanded multiple visits to the site to maintain progress and ensure scaffolding equipment met the evolving needs of the project. Our team demonstrated flexibility in scheduling, adapting to the school's constraints by performing necessary work outside school hours. This careful coordination with the client allowed us to meet the project timeline while respecting the school's operational needs, providing a secure environment for the contractors without disrupting educational activities.
Health and safety considerations were integral to every aspect of the project, especially due to the active school setting. Every member of the team was DBS-certified, either at the Enhanced or Standard level, which ensured compliance with school safety protocols. The project followed rigorous safety standards, safeguarding both the contractors and the school community throughout the project duration.
The Warblington School project reflects a commitment to safety, adaptability, and client satisfaction. By working closely with Beard Construction and prioritising the needs of the school, our team successfully delivered a secure scaffolding solution that enabled uninterrupted school operations. This project demonstrates the importance of flexibility and stringent safety standards, particularly within sensitive environments like schools, ultimately achieving a successful outcome for both Beard Construction and the Warblington School community.
